Gyumri Information Technologies Center is located Gyumri, Armenia's second largest city, located in the Northern Shirak region. The Gyumri IT Center, founded in August 2005, trains highly qualified individuals for world class IT jobs. GITC is helping to develop the information technology sector in Gyumri by introducing advanced learning methodologies and creating jobs. Leading IT specialists arrive daily from Yerevan, Armenia's current IT hub, to instruct GITC classes.

GITC's instructors are well qualified with backgrounds is business rather than academia. This insures the training our students receive is preparing them for real world job requirements. We have developed close relationships with several Yerevan based companies who have decide to open branch offices in Gyumri. As a result, our graduates have extremely high employment rates (over 80% receive job offers in the profession in their choice) in a region where jobs are very scarce. Compared to Yerevan based training programs, GITC's offers an extensive two-year program aimed at preparing multi-disciplinary professionals ready to become productive as soon as they are hired.

To help stimulate in the Northern Region of Armenia, and the particularly in the earthquake zone, GITC aims to extend the successes of the IT industry in Yerevan. Currently, four Yerevan based companies have opened branches in Gyumri, one of which has already quadrupled its initial employment opportunities to our graduates. Our Business Development services provide office space, high-speed Internet access, research materials, and advice from our faculty. The training offered at GITC is comprehensive and students are required to remain in the Gyumri area for two years following graduation. Donor funding currently supports us, a substantial amount of which comes from the Fund for Armenian Relief (FAR).
